Full Window — turning any browser video into a distraction-free player.
A macOS Safari extension that expands any web video into a clean, fully controllable window — with gesture controls, quality switching and a multi-video picker.
The problem / idea
Browsers don't give video the space it deserves — controls are cramped, pages get busy, and there's no quick way to focus on just the video you're watching. Full Window solves that directly: one click expands any video into its own clean, controllable space.
My role
Solo design and development, including navigating three rounds of App Store review and moving from an external tip link to native in-app purchases.
Design & development work
Built as a Safari Web Extension with a background script running in the page's main world for reliable control over video playback. Later updates added:
- Scroll-to-zoom and drag-to-pan on the expanded video
- Gesture controls and an auto-hiding controls bar
- YouTube quality switching and a seek-bar hover preview
- A multi-video picker popup for pages with several players
- Three native StoreKit tip tiers, replacing an external donation link
Technology
Outcome & current status
Live on the App Store after resolving an initial rejection over the external donation link — resolved by moving to native, in-app tipping instead.
